The organizers of Pécs Cantat were invited to the General Assembly of Europa Cantat held between 26-28 November in Namur (Belgium), where the merger of Europa Cantat and AGEC (Arbeitsgemeinschaft Europäischer Chorverbände) was officially announced. The leaders of the two organizations have started the negotiations years before to join their forces. The merger is effective from 1st January 2011, and the name of the merged parties will be European Choral Association - Europa Cantat.
The aim of the merger is to represent the European choir movement in a more powerful and concentrated manner in the European Union and in the international choir world.

The organizers of Pécs Cantat greet the merger and wish good luck for the development of the new association, where hopefully the Pécs choir movement will also be an active participant.
