The Singing Cultural Capital of Europe choir festival received the Premio ProArte award

Réka Balog, project coordinator of Pécs Cantat 2010 was awarded the Special Prize of Premio ProArte on January 27th.

The young cultural manager received the recognition for her idea to initiate a new international choir festival series entitled "The Singing Cultural Capital of Europe" after the great success of Pécs Cantat 2010.

Premio ProArte is an Italian award which aims to recognize and help to realize the ideas of young cultural managers. Each year the board of the award invites another country to expand the project to an international level. For  they year 2010 Hungary was the chosen partner.
Out of 44 proposals the board chose to award the following projects: Gergely Véglesi for his project "Garden of Coulours Without Colours", Attila Németh for  "Horseback Archery as a Hungaricum"and Csaba Legány for "Virtual Graffiti". For its outstanding concept the board gave a special prize for Bálint Németh for the image film "Budapest Get Engaged" and for Réka Balog.

The organizers of Pécs Cantat hope that with the help of this recognition the future European Capital of Culture cities will get to know about this successful choral festival and will decide to organize a similar event. The show must go on!
